About Wolfberries

Wolfberry, also known as Gogi Berry, is grown commercially in China and touted for its exceptional levels of Vitamin C and many other micronutrients and phytochemicals. The fruit is best eaten dried. This “super” fruit is sold dried in specialty food stores at exorbitant prices. Interestingly, it is a relative of such well known members of the Solanaceae family as potatoes, tomatoes, chili peppers, eggplants, tobacco and deadly nightshade.

Wolfberry Care

Plant wolfberries in a sunny location with good soil drainage. Water regularly and deeply for the first year, especially during dry periods. Fertilize with an all purpose fertilizer before the plant comes out of dormancy in the spring. Adding mulch helps control weeds and preserve moisture. If needed, use insecticidal soaps during the growing season to control insect pests. Prune annually to remove dead and old wood to increase vigor.
